So far Gemrock has shied away from working with artisan providers in Peru given the widespread involvement of providers in illegal mining operations and the generalized shadow business in the Peruvian lapidary industry, both are not complying with any environmental or labor standards and promoting unfair and abusive labor conditions.
However, as the Peruvian tax office over the last two years keeps closing legal loopholes many national providers slowly see themselves forced to give up their unlawful and abusive practices. We are now cooperating with a limited number of stone providers and lapidary workshops and advise them to comply with minimum legal standards to be able to work with them. We are changing the system from within one contract at a time.
Therefore, Gemrock Peru SAC will now concentrate on the bulk wholesale business. All the products will be produced and provided by legally established national providers and lapidary workshops. The quality level complies with the standard quality delivered by other Peruvian providers. We will make an effort to provide you with legal crystals and crystal products at prices that are equal to or even better than the prices of our competitors.
Our minimum order requirements are 500 kg of crystals or carved products and ocean shipping or 5000 USD of silver jewelry.
