About Semper Fi
Semper Fi is a stone containing Black Tourmaline, Epidote, Orthoclase, and Axinite. It originates from a Skarn area where Gemrock did some crystal mining in 2021. There is a black and white color version and a green version.

Availability
We don’t know how big the natural reserve of Semper Fi is. We are offering it as preselected cabochon material (slabs), as cabochons, and in our jewelry.
Ethical mining
Semper Fi is not mined but hand-collected (rockhounding). No dynamite or chemicals are used. Habitat destruction does not occur.
Color
Semper Fi comes in two colorations
Black and white:
Black Tourmaline and Axinite in orthoclase
Green:
Black Tourmaline, Epidote and Axinite in orthoclase
Pricing
Adequate pricing must take into account the cost factors to obtain top-quality cabochons:
- Selection of jewelry-grade material and discarding 50 percent of the rough rock as unsuitable for jewelry.
- A usual material loss of approximately 90 % of the selected material during the cutting and shaping process.
- The level of experience required by a cutter to produce a flawlessly shaped and highly polished cabochon.

Cutting Quality:
- Straight bezel (minor irregularities possible), 3 mm high
- Perfect dome (3-5 mm high)
- Edges between bezel and dome, as well as bezel and backside: sharp and crispy, minor chips on lower edge possible
- Backside flat at 280 grit, unpolished
