The surface of big pyrite cube crystals do show amazing and unique threedimensional patterns. The most simple one is the striated surface. However the surface of such crystals also can be fractioned in squares and rectangles or form organic landscape-like surfaces.
We are using this incredible feature of nature to make cabochons out of the surface of such crystals rathern than using the massive inner part of the crystal.
