Peruvian Coati Aragonite

Peruvian Coati Aragonite is the discovery of the year. Its a banded material showing a beautiful variety of brown/reddish, yellowish and white layers. It also is a material that can be polished to a glass-like surface.

We named it Coati Aragonite because it remembers us to the banded tail of the south-american Coatí, a species threatened by extinction. We thought it is a great opportunity to call atention to the plight of this and other species and remember peolpe that the protecion of our biodiversity is important. 

Peruvian Coati Aragonite shows a very strong fluorescence AND phosphorescence. When put under UV-Light some of its bands are emitting a very bright white light. When the light is switched of they show a very strong and long lasting green afterglow.

Definitely an amazing material that looks great under natural and UV-light, as well as in deco-pieces and jewelry.
